Welcome to Soldier for Christ.
Today we are going to take a look at a verse that, if applied today, would literally change the world. I mean literally. It would change the way the world looks, it would change the economy, the fundamental core of the world as we know it right now would be gone for the better.
And there is the thing about this verse. It does not require you to actually believe in God. It's a verse that would apply to every man, woman and child on this planet. It's a short verse and simple to understand. If everyone did this one simple thing, and I know you think I am overstating this, but I don't think I can enough. Think you have it figured out?
I am talking about 1st John 3: 18 which says;
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. -1st John 3:18
This was part of John's letter to some people that were living in a time of some unsettling situations. They didn't all believe that Jesus had actually come. But if you look at this verse this is just some good basic advice for living. The first part of it, and I have said this many times in the past, comes back to Love. Loving your fellow man. But he is saying here that it's not that we need to tell everyone we love them. That's all well and good but it's not required. People can say any number of things, but as he points out here it's the actions that show it. Don't tell me you love me. Show me. Don't just say you care about your fellow man. What are you doing to show that you care? Are you serving in any way? And please don't get me wrong, I am not saying you have to go out and donate thousands of dollars or volunteer all of your time. Holding a door or saying bless you when someone sneezes, these little things that show you are aware is a way of loving your neighbors. And just the simplest act can turn someone's day around. Every single one of us has a story and you don't know what that other person is going through. So just be kind. Show your love to everyone. There is no room for hate.
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. -1st John 3:18
It kills me when I hear people claim to be a follower of Christ and then speak hate against others. We are all children of God and that makes us all brothers and sisters in him as well. We can have disagreements, that's one thing, but to show hate is not acceptable. I have said it before and I will say it again. It all comes back to Love. God is love. Jesus gave us two commandments and they were both to love.
Love your neighbor.
Press on. Fight the Good Fight. As a Soldier for Christ.
