Bully

Bullying is something that has been around as long as people. An argument could be made for even longer than that. But today I want us to look at what it means to be bullied for what you believe.

If you were ever a kid, and I am just going to assume that all of us at some point in time were in fact kids, then you no doubt know what it is like to have been bullied.

Sometimes bullying takes the form of name calling and finger pointing. Public shaming, mocking and humiliation. Other times bullying can take on more aggressive violent physical forms.

Some of us, myself included have been victim of both forms of this bullying. Some of us may have been the one inflicting one or both of these on others.

Jesus was the victim of both. And so he warned those of us that believe that we too will be subject to this.

Everyone will hate you because of me. -Luke 21:17

Ouch. Hate is a strong word. But here Jesus is warning us that not just a few but that everyone will hate us because we love him. But he goes on and gives us hope after this.

But not a hair of your head will perish. Stand firm, and you will win life. -Luke 21:18-19

So even though everyone hates us, we will not die but win life if we press on. The key here, I believe is that the life he is talking about is not our life here on earth. We know that people have suffered greatly and been killed on account of their belief in Jesus. He is referring to our eternal life. The life we will live with him once we leave this world. And that because of our faith and trust and love for Jesus that they will not be able to touch one proverbial hair on our eternal bodies and that life will him will be and is our reward.

We only need to press on and fight the good fight so that when we are done on this world we will win life, life with him.

So were you ever bullied? Were you ever the bully? Stand firm and you will win life.

Press on. Fight the good fight. As a Soldier for Christ.
