The Path

Navigating the ins and outs of day to day living in this day and age can be, well sometimes it can be very unforgiving. We wake up and we have all the ideas of how things should go. What order things should happen in. We chart the course of our day as if, and this is the funny part, as if we are in control.

But then we actually start the day and there is traffic on the way to work. You get detoured and have to take a side street. Great! Now you're going to be late. Then you get to work and your computer wont come on and now your late for a meeting and then that one guy that did that one thing… well he's at it again and next thing you know your entire day has gone off the rails and it's just not going according to plan.

  • But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. -Matthew 7:14

You ever have days like that? Just cant find that narrow path? I am willing to bet you have. I know I have. In those times we need to realize that we are not the ones in control. We need to remember the one that has set the course for us. Turn to God..

  • You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.’ -Acts 2:28

When we let God take the wheel and guide our steps the path will light up like the yellow brick road and guide us on a journey ripe with joy. All those little things that would otherwise cause you anger and anxiety just wont seem to matter. They become trivial things not worth the heartache.

  • I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay. You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. -Psalm 16:8-11

So as you move into this new week try to make it a point to always remember who is in control and which path it is you should be following.

  • Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:5-6
