So I am just going to jump right into this one and break it down…
* 1 And God spoke all these words: -Exodus 20:1
* 8 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
* 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
*10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns.
*11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. -Exodus 20:8-11
So. What do we have here. Sundays are for doing nothing. Right? Well first off. No. Also, Saturday is technically the seventh day of the week. Monday through Friday we get up and go to work. We have all this stuff we must get done. Soccer practice, dry cleaning, grocery shopping, ballet for the little princess and any number of other things we just have to cross off our list. And I am right there with you. Life is hectic, crazy, chaotic and just plain filed with mayhem. What this commandment is telling us I fell is to find time to set aside to the Lord. We have all these other days to get everything done, surely we can set aside one of them to remember the one that made it all. Set aside time to reflect on God.
But when you do keep it holy. It's not about you, it is for you. Jesus said…
* The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. -Mark 2:27
The Sabbath is not something that man made. The Sabbath is a memorial of the great works that God did when he separated the light from the dark. The dry land from the seas. It's a time to remember the birds of the air and the fish in the oceans. It's a period of reflection for family. For God. For Jesus. For everything that is both seen and unseen because God created it all. In Six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth. Surly we can set aside some time and appreciate it and say "hey! Thanks!" Right?
So Remember the Sabbath. Keep it holy. It was made for you.
Press on. Fight the good fight. As a Soldier for Christ.
