When I am weak, then I am strong.
What?
What does that mean? I never quite understood that saying. How can you be strong, when you are weak? The answer is to look deeper.
In 2nd Corinthians Paul is talking about a thorn he is given. To keep him humble. Now I am not sure if this was an actual thorn or a reference to some other kind of ailment because he talks about asking God to remove it, three times. But God said.
My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. So Paul responds. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weakness, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. - 2nd Corinthians 12:9-10
I think what he is saying is that when we admit that we don’t have it all together, when we admit that we are not perfect and that we can't go it alone, and that when we rely on Him, then His power shines through us and is shown to others around us. And when we let that happen he has told us
I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint - Jeremiah 31:25 and also that In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. - Romans 8:26.
That is not to say that we will not have struggles. We will. And it is in those struggles, those times of weakness we are to be strong in Him.
To be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. - Ephesians 6:10
So as you move through this new week. when you feel the weight of it coming down on you draw your strength from God.
Press on.
Fight the good fight.
