Trials

So last week we talked about endurance. Endurance because there will be trials. I am not talking about 12 men in a box and a witness stand kind of trial but rather tests of your character, tests of your values, your morals and tests of your faith.

James told us to

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. -James 1:2-3

Remember the endurance? Yeah you are going to want to fall back on that one. These tests may come in all forms. All levels of difficulty. But he forewarned us

so that no one would be unsettled by these trials. For you know quite well that we are destine d for them. - 1st Thessalonians 3:3

It is your destiny. You are meant to face these trials because it's all part of God's plan for you. his plan to help not only you but others. Sometimes your pain can be someone else's gain. The trials you face and overcome may be what you share with someone else to help them through their trials.

So when you face these tests, whatever their scale or obstacle may be, be glad for them. Because

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. -James 1:12
