Easter

It was dawn and the sun was maybe just peaking over the horizon. It was the first of the week just after the Sabbath. Three women, Mary the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene and a lady named Salome had bought some spices and were on their way to the tomb Jesus had been placed in. As they went along they were talking trying to figure out how they would be able to get in to anoint His body. Ya see, the tomb had been sealed with a large stone and sealed up by the soldiers there.

Then there was a violent earthquake. And an angel of the LORD came down from heave and rolled back the bolder and sat on top of it. His appearance was like lightning and his cloths were white as snow. The soldiers that were there to guard the tomb were so afraid they became as dead men.

So when the ladies got there, they found the stone already moved and the tomb open. And when they looked inside they found that his body was gone. But sitting on the right side there was a young man dressed in a white robe. It scared them. But he told them, Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene. He is not here.

And then all of a sudden two men dressed in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. This also freaked them out to the point that they bowed down to these to men with their faces on the ground. But these guys are like. Why do you look for the living among the dead?

He is not here; he is risen! Come, look at the place where he lay Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee? The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.

And then. They remembered the words Jesus had spoken.

So the ladies hurried away from the tomb. They had to go tell the others. They were afraid and yet at the same time filled with joy.

And as they were on their way back, all of a sudden Jesus met them. Greetings he says. And when they saw him all they could do was fall to his feet and worship him. And so he tells them, Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; There they will see me.

So they ran. They ran back to Simon Peter and the other disciples and told them what they had saw.

Christ the Savior is raised from the dead.
