Fruit of the Spirit

Fruit. It's natures candy. So good, I love fruit. Who doesn't love some sweet grapes or a ripe banana? It's so good. Refreshing and good for you. Ya know what else is refreshing, good for you had bears fruit? The Holy Spirit.

In the book of Galatians, Paul is writing to them explaining how to deal with various problems that were popping up concerning the Gentile believers and the traditional laws of the times. He gave them some fruit.

*But the fruit of the Spirit is Love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. -Galatians 5:22-23

Seems once again it all comes back to love. There is nothing greater than Love and there is no law against it. In fact, when pressed about which commandment was the greatest what did Jesus say?

* Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with ally our soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself." -Matthew 22: 37-39

He told them to love. Love God first, then love each other just as you love yourself. If we showed that kind of love to everyone we meet the world would be a far better place. So, moving through this new week, try to show love to your neighbors, your workmates, your friends, the guy at starbucks. You will not be breaking any laws. So Press on. Fight the good fight. As a Soldier for Christ.
