Did you ever have to do anything you didn't want to do? Chores around the house? An extra project at work? Getting out of bed on a Monday morning? So when you were told or asked to do this extra duty, how did you respond? I need you to go clean out the kitty litter. "Great! Just what I wanted to do on a sunny Saturday afternoon!" Somehow I doubt that was the response. Philippians 2:14 tells us we should
Do everything without grumbling or arguing. -Philippians 2:14
Not sure about you but I find this a very hard feat to accomplish. Be it a "i don't wanna" or a hearty *sigh* if it's something I am not looking forward to I can find a reason to complain. It's something I am working on. I am trying to get better at following the direction found in Colossians.
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters -Colossians 2:23
To be able to approach any and ever task as if doing it for the Lord. Yet another tall order to fill. I mean, really? God wants me to pick up the dog poop? He wants me to go wash the car when it's 40 degrees outside? I mean one, why are you washing the car when it's that cold? But I am only trying to make a point.
He has laid out our path and when we can realize that everything we do moves us toward the goal he has set for us and that when we can undertake any task as if doing it for God it give Glory to Him.
I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work gave me to do. -John 17:4
So approach each task assigned as a way to bring Glory to God. When you do your attitude will change. Your demeanor will change and others will take notice.
So press on. Fight the good fight, as a Soldier for Christ.
