Temple

A temple is a structure reserved for religious or spiritual activities such as prayer and sacrifice. It has the same root as the word "template," a plan in preparation of the building that was marked out on the ground

*Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. -1st Corinthians 6:19-20

So your body is a temple to God and a template of what God is. This has profound implications. As you go about in world and interact with others and if you profess to be a Christian then they are looking at you as a template for what God is.

*So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them;

male and female he created them. -Genesis 1:27

This should make you stop in your tracks. This should make us rethink how we act not only in public but also in private. We are a template for God and his word is in us because we are the temple. Our bodies are reserved for spiritual activities. And to serve God here can sometimes be a sacrifice to what we long for int he flesh. But we can overcome that desire.

Jesus came here, the very word of God and became flesh. He was the perfect example of what we can be. And when he did not conform to the whims of society they destroyed his temple.

*But the temple he had spoken of was his body. - John 2:21

We will never be perfect as Christ was. But we can strive to server him, to reserve our temples for religious and spiritual activities such as prayer and sacrifice.

As you move through this new week be aware of how you present yourself and ask if you are being a true template of God.

Press on. Fight the good fight, as a Soldier for Christ.
