Independence

I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. -Psalm 119:45

Happy 4th of July and Welcome to Soldier for Christ.

As Americans we come together on the 4th of July to celebrate independence. As Christians we celebrate a freedom in Christ Jesus every day, every hour and ever minute.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. -Galatians 5:1

So when you accept Christ, you accept the gift he has given and you receive the Spirit.

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. -2nd Corinthians 3:17

And because of this...

In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. -Ephesians 3:12

Confidence that when we pray and ask God and that he hears and will answer. Freedom to run to his embrace for love, protection and guidance. But, with great freedom comes great responsibility. This freedom does not give us license to run wild.

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh ; rather, serve one another humbly in love. -Galatians 5:13

Once again it's circles back to Love. To have a love for our neighbors and to serve others. So go through this new week with a profound since of freedom.

Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil -1 Peter 2:16
